Foxhunting

Foxhunting, which originated in England, is a sport involving the pursuit of a fox by men and women on horseback who follow hounds that chase and find the prey. The officials and members of the hunt typically wear bright red coats. The earliest foxhunt in the United States was held in Virginia in 1742. Hunts were later established in such cities as Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Hempstead, Long Island, and then discontinued during the American Revolution. The longest running hunt in North America is the Montreal Hunt in Canada, which was first held in1826. This section features various resources on foxhunting.
