Bobsledding

Bobsledding is a precarious and fast-moving winter sport in which two or four people navigate a bobsled through a twisting ice track. Bobsleds are constructed out of a fiberglass and carbon composite and four steel tubing runners. The speed of a bobsled, which can travel up to 90 mph, is dependent on an equal distribution of the amount of weight, friction, and air resistance. Many mountainous European countries stage national bobsledding championships every year and the International Bobsled Federation sanctions various international competitions. In 1932, bobsledding was added to the Winter Olympics program. This section features various resources on bobsledding.
