Boxing History
History of Boxing. Boxing, which is a popular international sport on both amateur and professional levels, involves two competitors who fight with their gloved fists inside a square boxing ring until a winner is declared. Boxing as a sport can be traced as far back as ancient Greece, where it was included in the Olympic Games. Although boxing also existed during the Roman era, it wasn't until the 18th century that it became a popular professional sport in England. Then, during the Industrial Revolution, boxing evolved into a favorite sport of the working class. This section focuses on the history of international boxing.
