School reform initiatives & education issues Demands for a well-educated workforce increase as our societies become more technologically-oriented. Improvements and reforms must be made in education. Children of the past may have needed to learn only reading', writing' and 'arithmetic, but today's children, and adults, cannot acquire the necessary skills to survive in a modern, technological world, without a more advanced education.
