College Admission Applications and Preparations
A parent is the legally recognized father or mother of a person. In its narrowest sense and under the old common law, parents are biological mothers and fathers. In most American jurisdictions, however, people who adopt children are also considered to be parents. Students are generally subjected to their parents' supervision until college study begins. Most post-secondary schools rely on standardized tests to assess student readiness for college work. Two popular tests are the American College Testing program (ACT) and the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT).
