North America Colleges and Universities
North America is the larger of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. The main body of this rectangular continent is extended in the northwest by the peninsula of Alaska and its Aleutian Islands chain, in the northeast by Greenland, in the southeast by Florida's peninsula, and in the southwest by Mexico. Alternative definitions of North America are also made on political or cultural grounds. For instance Greenland is considered an extension of Europe and the small countries between Mexico and South America are regarded as Central America.
