Content Rating & Systems
The VCR (Voluntary Content Rating) System has been incorporated into many web pages from publishers of adult or mature oriented material worldwide. The VCR system gives publishers an alternative to the extremely complicated PICS compliant rating system -- pages are coded with ratings for reading by PICS compliant browsers. PICS would require that every web site be rated, no matter what the content. This is a massive undertaking because it is estimated that 30,000 new web pages are published everyday. Voluntary rating such as VCR by web site administrators would eliminate the need for a formal rating system. The links included herein relate to content rating and systems.
