WAN
WAN stands for Wide Area Network. WAN is a computer network that covers a larger area than LAN (Local Area Network). Computer networks, the source behind the ever-growing Internet, are interconnections of many computers used to facilitate the sharing of information. Networks, which are utilized by businesses, educational institutions, and public and private organizations, also facilitate communication via electronic mail (e-mail), newsgroups, and bulletin boards. Some of the obvious advantages of networks, aside from the communications and data-sharing capabilities that they allow, are reducing costs, speeding processing times, eliminating paperwork and the use of natural resources, as well as many other conveniences. In the modern computing age, it may be asserted that computer networks are the driving force behind the "Information Age".
