BIOS & Drivers
The term BIOS stands for Basic Input and Output System. This system is controlled by a BIOS circuit that works below the computer's operating system. It provides standard program interfaces to perform hardware-related functions such as writing to the screen and accessing disk drives. The BIOS software is stored in nonvolatile EPROM chips so that it is available even after the PC has been powered off and on. Drivers are small software programs that load from the Config.sys file at boot up. Drivers control the operations of modems, printers, scanners, etc. The links contained herein offer information about BIOS and computer drivers software.
