COBOL
COBOL language & COBOL programming. COBOL (Common Business Oriented Language) was inspired by the early FLOW-MATIC language of Grace Murray Hopper, who later worked on the COBOL project on the designing committee of U.S. academic, business, and military programmers in the late 50s and early 60s. A high-level language, COBOL was one of the first programming languages to include database management in its codes. Recent developments have lent to bigger and better programs than COBOL, but its wide acceptance in corporate and government circles gives it an edge. The information contained herein relates specifically to COBOL.
