Teenagers & Young Adult Art & Literature
Young adult literature, teen & young adult art. The terms 'young people', 'teenager', 'adolescent', 'youth', and 'young adult' refer to the segment of the population between the ages of 13 and about 19 or 20. Sociologically, it is the stage between childhood and adulthood; in most Western societies, between dependence and independence. The 1950s and '60s in the U.S. saw a rise in the number of teenagers, as a result of the post-WWII baby boom, from 17 million in 1950 to 34 million in 1976. During the first decade of the 21st century, levels may approach those of the mid-'70s. If you're feeling crowded, relax with the links on this page.
