Children's Book Publishers and Publishing

Originally the term 'publishing' meant "to make publicly known". Now, however, it refers to the preparation and dissemination of written material for public consumption. The invention of movable type by Johann Gutenberg in Germany in the 15th century marks the beginning of modern publishing. Until that time publishing meant self-publishing, in which an author distributed handwritten manuscripts. Only with the advent of mechanized printing did the scope of publishing broaden to embrace the entire literate world. Today, the structure of contemporary civilization rests largely on the effective interchange of information. Below is a list of children's book publishers and resources to give you more information on publishing children's books.
