United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS)

IRS tax forms, efile, refund, address & website information & resources. The Internal Revenue Service is a branch of our government, created in 1862, although its reputation brings to mind free-ranging rogues set to terrorize taxpayers. This picture comes with the post-World War II mandate by Congress to tax income of U.S. citizens. America is used to that fact, but IRS inner-workings are often unknown. It employs 112,000 people for office staffings throughout the country, with 7 regions, directed by commissioners, and 62 smaller sections by district directors. Tax returns are handled in separate centers, and a national office resides in Washington D.C., its primary goal being overseer and supervisor. The links included herein relate specifically to the United States Internal Revenue Service.
