Salary surveys & comparisons, employee benefits & rights, average salaries & career information, unemployment & workers compensation. Employees of companies in the United States are paid for their time and work in the form of salaries and benefits. A salary is usually meant as the annual amount of money for which a person has sold their time to their employer. For example, if an employee is paid $30,000.00 per year for his services, then his salary is $30,000.00 per year. In addition to salary, some employers offer additional benefits which will make working for their company more pleasurable. In many cases, employers will pay most or all of the health insurance of their employees and their families as a benefit. Employers will also make payments toward the eventual retirement fund of their employees, which is referred to as a 401K plan.
