Telecommunications Industry

The vast telecommunications industry has recently been marked by deregulation that has left a veritable free for all in its wake. Choices of long distance telephone carriers have increased drastically from the days of just two or three major providers. In addition, the proliferation of calling "codes" to be dialed before a long distance phone call has left the traditional long distance carriers with even more competition. The deregulation has also brought about the merge of Internet Service Providers (ISP) with the more traditional communications companies, thus forming telecommunications giants. The deregulation is sure to bring about even more drastic changes than these, with only time being able to tell where the change will lead. This section features telecommunication news and telecommunications industry resources covering emerging technologies.
