Nonprofit and Volunteer Organizations

Nonprofit businesses represent a distinctly different type of organization than for-profit corporations, proprietorships, and partnerships. Though nonprofit companies take part in a great variety of business activities, they all share one common factor. Nonprofit organizations consist of employees, sometimes contractual, who provide a service or produce a product. All earnings from such activity are used to pay employees and to cover the expenses of the company. When all such activity is accounted for, the nonprofit organization, as the name suggests, takes no profit. In essence, all money goes to running the business and paying employees.
