Antitrust & Unfair Competition

Some of the most well known U.S. antitrust laws, which are all designed to prevent unfair business practices and monopolies among businesses, are the Sherman Anti-Trust Act, the Clayton Anti-Trust Act, and the Robinson-Patman Act. Monopoly power is that situation which is most assiduously controlled. A complete monopoly allows a company to exhibit a certain degree of control over the prices in a market. In order to stimulate competition in a capitalistic economy, it is often necessary to regulate against extreme occurrences of such power, a provision that also protects consumers. The opposite of a monopoly, referred to as perfect competition among economists, involves a market in which no supplier of a good or service can exert any control over prices. The links included herein relate to antitrust and unfair competition law.
