International Museums & Galleries
Though it may seem art museums and galleries are simply the home for paintings, sculptures and other works of aesthetic beauty, they actually are responsible for a number of other public services. In addition to preserving and exhibiting fine art, these museums also provide art education and art historical research. Either publicly or privately funded, they are broken into two basic categories: the general museum and the specialized gallery. The former presents a broad range of exhibits from all eras, while the latter focuses on the work of a particular artist, historical period, or geographical area. The links included herein relate specifically to both domestic and international museums and galleries.
