Ancient Art & Artifacts
Ancient arts history of stylistic significance began with the emergence of the culture of the Egyptians and the civilizations of Mesopotamia. The art of the Egyptians was based in their fascination with life beyond this world and the preparation involved for arriving there. The sculptures of the pharaohs and the famous tombs which housed their bodies are a testament to the dominant influences in Egyptian art. The art of the Mesopotamian region focused primarily on the instability and the war-like civilizations which occupied the land between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. The art of Ancient Greece, however, is clearly considered the most important and the most influential of all the art of the Ancient World. The links included herein relate specifically to ancient art and artifacts.
