Hand Drawn & Illustration Arts
Illustration developed from the illuminated manuscript, which was eventually replaced by illustration when elements that had previously been hand-drawn began to be produced through the use of the printing process. The invention of movable type around 1451 made it possible to mass-produce books via a mechanical means. While this process was new, the printed books resembled their older hand-written and hand-drawn counterparts, being organized and decorated in the same manner. The links included herein relate specifically to hand-drawn and illustration arts.
