Lace & Lacemaking

Laces are composed of linen, cotton, silk, or another similar material and are divided into the categories of needlepoint lace, bobbin or pillow lace, and composite lace. The first, needlepoint lace, is also referred to as needle lace or point lace and takes its name from the fact that it is created through the use of a needle. Likewise, bobbin lace, also referred to as pillow lace, is worked with spools, or bobbins. Composite laces, as their name suggests, are made using a combination of the two techniques. The majority of laces made today are produced by machines. The links included herein relate specifically to lace and lacemaking resources.
