Science Fiction Books

Science fiction is a form of literature that takes place in an altered time or reality. The changes in the present are usually brought about by or attributed to monumental technological or sociological events that have altered the realistic now. Science fiction is generally considered to be an American genre and its origins can be found in the work of Hugo Gernsback and the publishing of his magazine, Amazing Stories, in 1926. Fantasy as a literary genre is difficult to define, as the word lends itself to a boundless realm of thought. From a critical standpoint, fantasy is often judged by the technical skill of the writer as opposed to the originality of their concepts.
