Bauhaus Art & Architecture

The Bauhaus, Bauhaus art and Bauhaus architecture. The Bauhaus, translated to the "state building house," was the most famous and respected school of architecture of the 20th century. The Bauhaus was founded by Walter Gropius in Weimar, Germany, on the fundamental premise that all of the creative arts should be unified under the leadership of architecture. It was Gropius' belief that a mastery of both material and technique was essential to all creative design. Upon moving from Weimar to Dessau, Gropius designed the buildings of the new campus which included classrooms, shops, offices, and dwellings for faculty and students. The campus at Dessau came to symbolize the Bauhaus to the rest of the world. The links included herein relate to Bauhaus.
