He serves as a member of the firm's marketing committee and computers committee. Michael Monheit is also the sole shareholder of Monheit Law, P.C., a plaintiffs personal injury firm in Pennsylvania. Monheit was formerly the managing partner of the Law Offices of Herbert Monheit. He has been in practice since 1989. He graduated in 1985 from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Economics, and a concentration in Operations Research. He attended Law School at Temple University, in the evening division, where he earned his J.D. Mr. Monheit has served as an active member of the Philadelphia Citizens for Children and Youth (PCCY) and serves on the Lead Coalition within PCCY. In that capacity he has participated in drafting proposed Landlord Disclosure legislation for submission to City Council regarding childhood lead paint poisoning. Mr. Monheit is lead trial counsel in the case of Hurt, et al. v. PHA, et al. currently pending in U.S.D.C, E.D. Pa. The Hurt case is a class action against the Philadelphia Housing Authority, and others, seeking injunctive and declaratory relief from the hazards of lead paint poison in the PHA housing stock. Mr. Monheit served as the chairman of the Document committee in MDL No. 1148 (Latex Allergy), pending in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and in 1999, was appointed by the Court to the Plaintiff’s Executive Committee in that litigation. He has actively worked with the Tenant's Action Group (TAG), consulting on landlord tenant matters as they apply to lead paint. Mr. Monheit has authored numerous articles regarding childhood lead paint poisoning published in the Legal Intelligencer (with Maryann Monheit Bell), Pennsylvania Law Journal-Reporter and the Philadelphia Daily News and has been featured in The Philadelphia Business Journal, the Tri-State Real Estate Journal, the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Legal Intelligencer for his and the firm's efforts regarding the plight of children suffering from lead paint poisoning. Mr. Monheit has appeared on both Radio and Television to discuss childhood lead poisoning cases and the need for greater public funding and efforts to prevent this disease. Mr. Monheit has regularly taught legal courses on Childhood Lead Paint Poisoning since 1993, including Mealey's Lead Litigation Conference, Boston, 1994, Pennsylvania Bar Institute, and Philadelphia Bar Education Center courses. Mr. Monheit is a member the American Association of Justice, serving on the Public Education Committee in ATLA, chairing its Fosamax litigation group, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the New Jersey Bar Association. He has also held membership in of the Philadelphia Bar Association, Pennsylvania Trial lawyers Association. He was a member of the Plaintiff's Liaison Counsel for Lead Paint Litigation in Philadelphia. His primary practice is mass tort litigation in both state and federal courts. Michael Monheit has practiced law since 1989, was the managing attorney of the Law Offices of Herbert Monheit, a firm founded by Herbert Monheit in 1963, and still maintains contact with that firm. Monheit Law, P.C. concentrates its practice in the field of plaintiff personal injury cases on a contingency fee basis.
