 Elizabeth GuptaI am an educator of many years standing, and have taught in some of the finest schools in the country. I started my teaching career in Nazareth Convent Ooty, then went on to the Lawrence School, Lovedale. My husband and I were invited to help start a branch of the Indian School in Muscat. We were there for 11 years, and took the Indian School, Al Ghubra right up to class 12. We then came back to India, to Bishop Cotton School, Shimla. After this I decided to slowly give up active teaching and take up freelance writing. Now I spend time between Kolkata, Bangalore and Chennai. Professionally, I am a teacher of Chemistry and Western Classical Music. Have been Prefect advisor, and have always taken Value education for the senior classes. I've worked as the Coordinator for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The IB is a course of study that I find deeply interesting. I am part of the writer's group of Chillibreeze, and have also done a fair amount of content writing. My e-book, 'A Guide to Spiritual Tourism in India' is on the net.Interests and Hobbies: I love trekking and traveling. Nature is something that is very important to me. Am interested in music. Reading is an abiding interest with me - just cannot be without a book. I love doing crosswords. Dictionaries, atlases and the Thesaurus fascinate me. I'm deeply interested in issues concerning the girl child and women especially in India. I love writing and never fail to write about issues that affect me in some way or another. Urdu is a language that I love. Sufism touches my heart. 'Me' time is important to me and I make sure I have a little everyday. My blog, 'pauseaminute' is where I express myself. Another deep interest I have and fully believe in is the Wabi-Sabi way of life. It is an incredibly beautiful concept. |
