Susan Klopfer

I am a writer and blogging journalist. Additionally, I've been a newspaper reporter and an acquisitions and development editor for Prentice-Hall. My undergraduate degree is from Hanover College and I hold an M.B.A. from Indiana Wesleyan University. Non-fiction writing is something that I like to do. In the past, I've written a computer book for Prentice-Hall, Abort! Retry! Fail! that was an alternate selection for the Book of-the-Month Club. Currently, I'm marketing two books that I wrote while living in the Mississippi Delta: Where Rebels Roost: Mississippi Civil Rights Revisited and The Emmett Till Book. I spent two years living in the Delta where I met many interesting older folks who were part of the civil rights movement. While there, I read hundreds of books, interviewed people, searched archives and generally had a fascinating time learning about this period of time.

Interests and Hobbies:
My hobbies include playing the piano, reading all kinds of books (particularly historical fiction novels), and traveling. My husband and I have lived in many parts of the country and I've really enjoyed the various geographies and people we have come across. If I could do it all over again, I'd be a psychobiologist because I'm interested in why people do what they do. Currently, I'm somewhat involved in politics (fighting with the Democratic Central Committee) and I'm also involved with rescue pets. My newest cat is Popi' (short for Popsicle). He's cute; he's fun; he's adorable. Also, I'm involved in personal efforts to bring money to individuals in the Mississippi Delta who are trying to recover from the effects of Katrina. For the past two years we lived in the Mississippi Delta and that broadened my interest in U.S. history and the history of the civil rights movement. Next year I plan to live in Mexico City for one month so that I can improve my Spanish speaking skills.
