Dan Baldwin

My professional experience starts with six years in the exhibition logistics industry moving trade show goods and weapons exhibits to countries around the world. I was responsible for multi-million dollar exhibits that included armaments and advanced weaponry manufactured by defense contractors such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Raytheon. My responsibilities included being knowledgeable about Customs and import/export compliance regulations for the United States and countries in Europe, the Middle East, and the Pacific Rim.
In 2007 I decided to change careers and switched to sales in the IT industry. Working for a leading data storage company, I first worked in Federal Sector sales and then transferred over to Finance, where I am now a Point of Sale analyst. Versatility and adaptability have always been hallmarks of my career.

Interests and Hobbies:
It is my dream to one day be a published writer. I took Stephen King's advice to heart when he said that very few writers ever get rich doing what they are doing. I just want to see my name on the spine of a book someday. As such, I like to write in contemporary fantasy, though i am also looking at the spirituality genre and the regular fiction genre.
I practice photography, sketching, and have dabbled in poetry and built a small reputation as a slam poet in Las Vegas from 2002-2005. I also find that as I grow older, spirituality and trying to find meaning in one's life becomes more and more of a theme that reflects in my poetry, my sketchings, and my writings.
In addition, I invented a new workplace sport that involves coming up with exotic combinations of normal words to use in everyday speech that completely stun whoever is listening (example - using the words 'Flaming weasel crack' in a business context with clients, and getting away with it). I call it 'wordzapping'. I highly encourage everyone to try this, as it livens up your everyday work experience. There are only two rules: one, you can't use bad or naughty words; and two, you can never use the same words twice.

Finally, I want to find out if i really have what it takes to be an author and a story teller. If I can make it on Buzzle... I can make it.
