Joel MyersI am in marketing. Currently, I am one class away from finishing my Business Marketing degree at CSU Fullerton. I am working for an Internet start-up called WonderHowTo.com, a site which aggregates instructional videos. Previously I managed a small computer store, my responsibilities were global; I handled most of the finance, accounting, marketing, and personnel matters. I would say that my knowledge of business marketing and management better than most, though largely untested in the real world. It is a sick joke that CSUF filled my head with V.P.-level knowledge, then dropped me into an entry-level position. I often find myself developing strategic marketing plans for entrepreneurial acquaintances, my hope is that this practice will keep my skills sharp until my career path catches up with my education.Interests and Hobbies: I am a technologist, but without the capital to buy all of the ludicrously expensive latest gadgets; therefore, I am regularly glued to the internet reading tech-specs and listening to technology podcasts so that I might be able to give unsolicited purchasing advice to those who have the purchasing power to buy all of the fun stuff. I am in a continuous arms race with my friends to find the best unknown bands of any genre. I will often slyly turn on my latest playlist and wait eagerly for someone to comment, but not let them know that they just made my day when they do. My newest hobby is my website. I am a late comer to the world of blogging, however, I find that my website is quickly taking over more and more of my downtime. |
