Dave Tishendorf

I retired a couple of years ago after a 45-year career as a newspaper reporter and editor. During my career I covered a wide variety of news beats ranging from general assignment to the statehouse to the courts, politics and education, as well as others. I also wrote a general column, On Tish's Terms, for a number of years. I have won numerous news writing and headline writing awards. I graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism with a degree in journalism in 1965. In addition, I have written more than a dozen plays, four of which have been given full stage productions.

Interests and Hobbies:
My favorite hobby is running my border collie in the sport of dog agility. We generally compete in at least one agility trial per month in the Pacific Northwest. My dog, Chek (short for Chekhov, my favorite playwright), has achieved the highest level in the sport, an Elite ranking.

I also enjoy reading, hiking, crossword puzzles and acrostics, gardening and playing Scrabble with my wife, Mary. I have an avid interest in politics and am a close follower of the political scene.

Some years ago, as the years advanced and my weight seemed to be doing likewise, I also developed an interest in dieting, weight loss and physical fitness in general. I now have a working knowledge of these subjects and write frequently about them.
