Steve Faber

My professional background includes 20 years in the consumer electronics industry. During the two decades I've been privileged to make my hobby my livelihood, my experience has spanned all facets of the industry. I've worked in retail sales, as business development manager for a high end, specialty audio importer, and spent a few years as an outside sales rep for a regional distributor.

Outside the sales arena, I have gotten my hands dirty in the rapidly growing custom installation field. My experience in this area of the consumer electronics industry includes years of experience as a custom residential electronics installer, systems designer, control systems programmer, and sales engineer for a large custom installation firm. During this time, I have been fortunate enough to work on some of the west coast's largest custom residential projects.

My experience includes business ownership as well. For over 3 years I was a principal in a custom installation firm that grossed $1.8 in annual sales. I hold several inudustry certifications, including being a CEDIA (Custom Electronics Design and Installation Association) Certified Designer, CEDIA Installer 2 (one of the first 20 in the world), THX certification, and ISF certification. I am a moderator in the CEDIA industry forum.

I am a published author, both online and in print media. Recently my byline appeared in Home Theater Magazine, where I authored a 7 part series on how to design and build your own home theater. I also authored a feature article on lighting control for the magazine. I have been a featured author online as well, appearing multiple times on the front page of HomeToys.com. HomeToys is one of the Internet's largest home electronics newsletters, with over 100,000 subscribers.

Interests and Hobbies:
My interests are varied, extending from personal finance and economics to sports and all things mechanical. I also love writing, and have combined two of my passions, writing and finance in my blog, Debt Free. Debt Free is an exciting challenge, and now receives almost 15,000 unique visitors a month. According to the Fire Finance personal finance blog rankings, it is one of the top 30 visited personal finance blogs on the Internet.
