Colin DunbarColin Dunbar was naturally drawn to the technical writing field, as this satisfied his two primary character traits: learning new things, and his logical, step-by-step approach to things. I always want to know the 'why, what and how'.Colin obtained his diploma in technical writing, after purchasing the course material and studying in his own time. He also obtained his diploma in freelance journalism, and a number job-specific diplomas. For the period 1989 to 1997 he filled various positions, including: head of department, and then project manager at a small documentation company. He worked as a contract technical writer, and went back to being a staff writer. Colin taught himself WordPerfect 5.1, and then Windows 3.1. He wrote training guides, and had a spin at freelance lecturing, as well as running a PC user training center. In October 1997 he set up his own corporation, offering a full technical writing and documentation service. In 2001 he wrote his book, Invest In Yourself. The book is about following one's passion, and is the real life story of Colin's business endeavors; both failures and successes. In 2003 Colin wrote his second book, How To Set and Reach Any Goal, which he sells on his web site. Colin is a practical, methodical person who enjoys the logical approach to things. I am very rarely spontaneous in anything I do. he says. My knack for following a logical, step-by-step process developed throughout high school, into my working career, and up to this day. |
