Joseph MichalskiI am the owner and lead inspector of Sherlock Homes Inspections in the Philadelphia, PA area, having performed thousands of home, condo, and commercial building inspections.Prior to inspecting, I renovated 3 historic homes personally, giving me a deep appreciation and affection for older homes. As an inspector, I like to consider myslef an educator, helping clients learn all about their homes, and explaining things in terms even the least handy of homeowners can understand. I like to take a consumer-advocacy approach to inspecting, that puts the client in control and offeres them an unparalleled number of choices (in inspection types, and pricing) so that they get the inspection they need at a price they want. I have introduced several innovations to the industry that are being mimicked in several states, including: Choices in inspection types, Continuing Care for Clients (as long as they own their home), and First Time buyer programs (designed to take the fear out of the process). I also like to give back to the community and have created a non-profit venture to provide free childproofing inspections to local single and low-income mothers, and free fire and safety inspections for seniors. In 2008, I hope to expand this outreach offer free childproofing equipment (like outlet covers, monitors, and cabinet locks). I am certified to perform FEMA disaster inspections, HUD-VA inspections, and FHA inspections in addition to standard inspections of any structure.
When asked, I like to speak to groups about homes and safety issues. |
