Sharon GoodI am what the Life Purpose Institute calls a Rainbow Person -- someone with lots of different interests. I decided at the age of 14 that I wanted to be an actress. I picked up singing and dancing along the way, majored in Theatre, with a minor in Music, at Hofstra University, and began my professional career. I performed in dinner theatre, summer stock, regional theatre, film, commercials, print modeling, and the highlight of my career -- musical children's theatre with the wonderful Gingerbread Players & Jack. My first book, Alpha, Beta & Gamma, included illustrations that I did on my trusty Macintosh, and I contributed to our series of original monologues, By Actors, For Actors. My second solo book, Managing With A Heart: 222 Ways To Make Your Employees Feel Appreciated, was picked up by a fast-growing publisher called Sourcebooks, has been translated into several languages and is used as a resource in college business classes. The third edition is now available as an e-book. I also contributed to My First Book Sale, published by Blue Island Publications, and more recently wrote and published three e-books, The Tortoise Workbook: Strategies for Getting Ahead at Your Own Pace, Self-Publishing Basics, and Tips for Tortoises: Getting Ahead at Your Own Pace. My e-newsletter, Living the Creative Life, continues to reach creative people all over the world. As a publisher, I also got to develop my editorial skills. One of the books I edited, Practical Parenting for the 21st Century, was a finalist for the Benjamin Franklin Award. I went on to edit books and articles for Allworth Press, Heineman, Food Arts magazine and several corporate clients. As if I didn't have enough to do, I decided in 1997 that I wanted to become a Life Coach, so that I could make a direct positive contribution to people's lives, individually and in groups, and I began coaching and leading workshops and teleclasses. In 1999, I added to my skills by completing The Life Purpose Processİ certification course with Fern Gorin, M.A. and the Life Purpose Institute. In 2005, I earned a certificate in Adult Career Planning and Development at New York University. As a workshop leader, I have led teleclasses for the Virtual Reality Self-Help Center, WriteDirections.com and Teleclass.com, and have been leading career, life skills and publishing workshops for the 92nd Street Y (Makor/Steinhardt Center), the Learning Annex, the Career Change Network, WorkTalk, Axxess Business Centers, the International Coach Federation/NYC Chapter, the Independent Business Womens Circle, the International Facility Management Association, Friends of the Institute of Noetic Sciences, the Network of Enterprising Women (a chapter of NAFE), Manhattan Plaza Social Services and other venues, as well as leading monthly coaching groups.Interests and Hobbies: During that time, I became a professional photographer, doing headshots for actors and covering events for the Art Directors Club and the American Marketing Association. My photos appeared in several industry magazines, including the Marketing Review, Advertising Age and Print, and I was fortunate to have one of my artistic pieces chosen for the first Best of Photography Annual. I also began honing my computer skills, which later blossomed into desktop publishing, graphics and web design. I began writing some short stories and articles, some of which appeared in magazines and local newspapers. In 1990, my friend, Maria Ciaccia, also a writer, suggested that we start our own publishing company to get our work into print, and Excalibur Publishing was born. We published 14 books, including some of our own. |
