Your Man Cave in 4 Simple Steps

Is your garage a boring old place to park the cars? Looking to do more with your space? Turn it into a sanctuary for men with these easy steps.
So you’ve got the most functional garage in the neighborhood. It’s not uncommon for your neighbors to drop by to borrow something or to just check out your latest projects. It’s everything you ever wanted, right?

Many men find themselves still missing that one central component to their home even after their custom garage or workshop is finished. So what could possibly be eluding American men? You guessed it, the man cave.

It’s easier than you might think to turn your fantastically functional garage into the testosterone territory you’ve been longing for. Here are some simple tips to converting your garage into your manly sanctuary of swank:

Da Floor

Never underestimate the floor. Not only is putting down a new garage floor practical in keeping it clean and you and your family safe, it adds a certain jene se qua that makes your new lair…well manly. If you haven’t done so already, purchase new flooring.

Da Fridge

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think about hanging out with the guys? That’s right, cracking open a cold one. It doesn’t matter what your beverage of choice is. If it’s not refreshingly cold, it’s worthless. Purchase yourself a mini-fridge that will easily fit under your work bench or in a corner to keep your garage workable yet a swinging part of your pad. Oh, and don’t forget to keep the fridge stocked.

Watching the Garage Game

Perhaps the single most important element to your man cave, the TV will draw your crowds and keep everyone entertained; especially if you’re like every other man and not much of a talker. It’s totally up to you as to how fancy you want to get, but remember to be practical. That 60-inch flat panel plasma you’ve been eyeballing might not be the perfect fit to your man lair. It’s really not that important how big or high tech your TV is as everyone will gather round for the big game if it’s on.

It’s Ok to Go Overboard

A woman can’t get her husband to decorate the living room to save her life. But, you ask him to cover a space all his own with his favorite football or NASCAR décor and he’ll be lost at the hardware store for hours. He might even do a little Internet shopping. While some worry about overdoing a room with too much stuff, I’m here to suggest that it’s ok to do so. It’s supposed to be your man cave so go crazy with it. It doesn’t matter how tacky the wife thinks it is, it’s all yours and you’ve created the ultimate masculine paradise.

There really are no rules when deciding to create your man cave. Do what comes naturally in terms of décor and watch your buddies flock to your garage for a little guy time. You’ll be the hit of the hood.
