Your Lover
This is a poem about my brother. I don't want to tell you what it means, but I would like for you to tell me with your own interpretation.
You lift her to your lips
A swallow brings you closer to oblivion
A single drop of preciousness falls to be forever lost
Among the swelling sea of your shattered hopes and dreams
The glazed look in your eyes covers the pain
Left by a life that leaves much to be desired
And much to be forgotten
She is the one that you caress there
In front of the television screen
As images caress your face, frame after frame unwatched
She wraps your brain in the euphoria that you need
In order to leave demons nipping at your heels
In the past
She brings you release each night
She is your lover
A swallow brings you closer to oblivion
A single drop of preciousness falls to be forever lost
Among the swelling sea of your shattered hopes and dreams
The glazed look in your eyes covers the pain
Left by a life that leaves much to be desired
And much to be forgotten
She is the one that you caress there
In front of the television screen
As images caress your face, frame after frame unwatched
She wraps your brain in the euphoria that you need
In order to leave demons nipping at your heels
In the past
She brings you release each night
She is your lover
