Young Flames
Meet Erin Coolwater. Temperamental, sarcastic, hilarious, and unlike any girl you have ever met. When the government kid naps her for who she is, lives are changed forever.
She heard a noise. Erin was sure of it. It wasn't her imagination. Every baby sitter's nightmare. Someone was in the house other than her and little Alex. A shattering noise pierced the air. Apparently, who ever it was, was looking for something, and not caring how much damage was done. Erin quietly crept up the stairs to check on Alex. She opened the door to Alex's room, where a little petrified boy laid. Erin tiptoed over to the bed, afraid that Alex might scream, giving away their position to who ever it was downstairs. "Miss Erin, what was that?! I'm really scared! When will mommy and daddy get home?" Alex said. Erin knew his parents wouldn't be back for hours, but she didn't have the heart to tell him. " Someone has broken into the house, but you're going to be ok" said Erin," if you want to get out of this, you're going to have to do everything I say, no questions asked." The little guy just nodded his head. We need to get to the kitchen. That's where the phone is and I can give Alex a cookie sheet to protect him, in case the guy is armed, thought Erin. She bent over and picked up Alex, and silently snuck out the door.
Melissa Parkins was sitting down to eat when she heard it. A crashing noise came from the house across the street. Then gunfire. Children's' screams. Then the whole neighborhood went into silence. Melissa ran to the window and saw that the Smith's house was on fire. She ran as fast as she could and dialed the phone to call the police.
In a secret facility, a television was running. Every one was quiet. "Breaking news. A house has caught fire in a little quiet neighbor hood in Spindle. "The T.V blared into the silent room. A picture of a concision, blue eyed, white haired girl showed on the screen. The television screen froze." Stripe! Silver!" an angry sounding man shouted." Two figures approached the high-strung man." You know what to do," the man said." Yes sir," the two odd figures said, and left the room.
I really hope he doesn't see us. I really, really hope he doesn't see us, thought Erin as she began to walk down the hallway. Another crash. The figure was now in the dining room. She would have to go through the dining room, in order to reach the kitchen. Erin had reached the stairs when she realized this. She knew it was too dangerous for her to go down with a little kid on her back. Erin walked to the door by the stairway, and opened it slowly. It was a bathroom. She put the little boy down." Alex get in the tub, and stay there. Don't leave if I don't come back ok?' Erin ordered. The kid's eyes widened. Erin opened the door, when she heard a thud. The kid had fainted. She knew that she would have to get to the phone fast. The kid's life depended on it. She ran out the bathroom and went to the stairs. Erin took a deep breath, and headed down into the inferno.
