*Four Months Later, Mid-July*

Nias' POV

I had just finished moving into my new apartment the day before. Thank God I had Sharise and her sisters helping me....not to mention that UHAUL I was lucky enough to afford. The lights were on, the lease was signed, I had my own washer and dryer....now all I needed were new decorations and my place would be perfect. I was now closer to my family, how well that would work after being gone so long....I had no idea.

I had just about everything I needed for the next day, cutlery, party favors, wine, now all I needed to get was the food. Why on Earth I had volunteered to do this I didn't know, I must've been uncharacteristically happy.....or high unbeknownst to my own self. My heels clicked impatiently against the linoleum of the grocery store as I searched for the perfect chips.

I stopped and looked at the tortilla chips.

'No not that, way too cheap.'

'Not that either. Why is this so damn hard?!'

If it had been for me I would've picked the cheapest brand, but since I was the hostess of this party I had to be wary of the things I bought.

After another minute of searching I found the right brand of chips and dropped four bags in the cart.I went over my mental checklist for the third time.

1. Nacho dip, check I already had the cheese and hamburger mix made up
2. Tuna salad and crackers, check
3. Crescent rolls for deli tray, check
4. Nacho chips, check (as of right now)
5. Fruit and veggie tray, need to get
6. Deli Tray, need to get
7. Cheesecake bites, check
8. Cupcake, check
9. Chips, check and check

I desperately wanted to slip on some jeans, an old tee and get rid of the dress suit and heels I had on. I had just interviewed for a teaching job for the little K kids and I desperately hoped I would get it.

While in my thoughts I felt something pull at the hem of my skirt. Who on Earth is bothering me? I turned around expecting to see someone behind me...

No one. I tightened my grip on the cart and before I could move felt another tug.

"Who in the h-" I looked down abruptly and my expression softened.

A cute little toddler with skin the color of caramel and curly black hair smiled up at me. I kneeled in front of him and smiled back at his sweet face. He couldn't be more than two perhaps less than that and looking at his size that's all he could be.

"Hey li'l fella how are you."

He twisted from side to side and blushed at me. His fat cheeks and tiny hands were so adorable, I reached for his hand and he placed it in my own immediately.

"Now whatcha doin tuggin on my skirt huh?"

He whispered something and then pointed behind me. I pulled him closer and leaned my head so he would whisper in my ears.

"What was that?"

Cool breath tickled my ear.

"Dadda."

"Ahem." A man cleared his throat and I stood up still holding the little boys hand. It must've been his Daddy.

"Hi, this must be your son, he's the sweetest thing."

The man smiled down at his son and reached out for him, the little boy walked slowly to his father and wrapped his small arms around his legs.

"Careful I almost took him home with me."

He nodded and I noticed how pretty his eyes were and the peculiar color of his skin, he must've been half white, looking at his son the mother was black. I held my breath for a minute and tried to steady my heart. This father was beyond handsome, dressed up in a dressy casual suit, haircut close to his scalp and his sideburns was cut thin as well as his mustache and goatee. His facial hair was all connected and cut closely into a clean chinstrap. He was a former pretty boy turned sexy man.

"Sorry about that, my son likes to run around a li'l too much for me. I'm getting old ha can't run around like I used to."

He grinned suddenly and revealed a gap. I blinked quickly and felt a wave of familiarity wash over me.

"You look very familiar."

"So do y- wait."

His smiled spread more so and he threw his arms around me. The little boy grabbed my legs and held on as his father rocked me from side to side. I smiled uneasily and patted his shoulder, what could you say to a strange man hugging you in the middle of a grocery aisle?

He leaned back and I rubbed my arm nervously.

"I've changed a little bit so you wouldn't notice me. Remember I always shaved my facial hair off and the curls?"

I gave him a quizzical eye still confused.

He sighed and motioned for his little boy.

"Cameron come here."

The little boy did as told and his father picked him up and held him on his side. I looked at his curls closely, who did I remember with those curls?

"Nia, I know you can do it. Think, my feelings are really hurt."

My eyes widened at his growing smile.

"Nick, oh Nick."

I rubbed my forehead and laughed at myself.

"I'm so sorry."

He shrugged and bounced his son slightly.

"So how are you? It's been a long time since we've talked."

"Great, really great."

I nodded, still shocked.

'Wow he has a baby. So he really did move on.'

"And you?"

I snapped out of my thoughts, "Uh fine good really good."

"That's good."

'I didn't realize I would feel this awkward again.'

"Uh well. I really have to go, I'm hosting my cousin's bridal shower and party and I only have a couple of hours to prepare."

He nodded fast, "Of course, I hope to see you again soon."

'Oh I hope not.' Just thinking about seeing him again had me in conflicting emotions, I wanted to see him but then I didn't.

Instead of saying that I smiled and kissed Cameron's little hand. Oh he was the cutest little boy and his hand was so soft, I didn't know why I hadn't seen the resemblance at first.

"Hey there Cameron, be a good little boy. Don't run away from Daddy."

I leaned closer to his tiny ear, "He played soccer, it's all about running."

He blushed again and rested his head in the crook of Nick's neck. Oh what a sweetie, I hadn't known him but a few minutes and I was in love with the little boy.

"Well." Nick looked over at his son, "Lil man getting sleepy I have to get him home soon."

"Right-right."

We backed away at the same time with friendly smiles and he turned around before I did. I watched him walk away before I let out an agonized breath.

Thank god.

I had been holding that in ever since he told me who he was. I shook my head and attempted to steady my shaking hands by holding the handle of the cart.

I had a bridal party to host.
