Writing for Imagination
Joining and writing group shouldn't be intimidating. It should be fun, creative and a way to stretch the imagination.
You are invited to join us at "That's My Story", an informal creative writing group found only here at StoryOfMyLife.com. What is an informal creative writing group, you might ask? With "That's My Story", we have organized a facilitated forum that allows people like yourself to stretch your imagination through the written word. This writing group isn't about form and style as much as about showing creativity.
Here is how it works:
A typical assignment might look like this: a scenario will be described as if everyone in the class just witnessed the same occurrence at once.
"You are in the parking lot of your favorite store. It is raining outside. You are waiting for the rain to stop before entering the store. You see a black Mercedes come speeding by just as an old woman with her hands full of packages steps outside of the store's front doors. The Mercedes splashes the old woman as it drives by, but does not stop. You notice the plates on the Mercedes reads "Big Bucks".
Using this example, you will then be asked to tell us more about that scenario, such as what led up to it or how did it end. You can tell the story from any point of view, as the witness, the old lady, or the driver of the Mercedes.
The same assignment is given to every participant with a deadline date of when it should be submitted. Some assignments will include being matched with another participant whom you will interview online and write about. Stories are short and sweet - usually less than 2,000 words.
Once your story is completed and submitted by the given deadline, it will then be posted online. You will then have the opportunity to read the spin others put on the exact same scenario. It is fun, there is no pressure, and it helps to sharpen your imagination as well as your writing skills.
So sign up today and tell your friends and family as well to join the fun as the first assignment will be given out soon.
