Write An Ebook - Get Published Now!

The old barriers to publishing are gone. With a bit of extra work you can self-publish your ebook to the world!
There are many advantages for today's ebook writer and publisher, not the least of which is that if you write an ebook there's no waiting around to be published, you can do it now!

Traditional publishing could never act so quickly. The time between initial submission of manuscript and published book would likely be a minimum of a year, maybe two. Now that might be OK if you want to write a best-selling novel and you can bear to wait but what if your content is time sensitive? That's where writing an ebook wins hands down.

Of course there is still some time delay, you can't write an ebook in ten minutes. However, you are not restricted by either someone else's deadlines or indeed someone else's budget.

Which has often been one of the greatest bars to getting your book published.

The unfortunate truth with traditional publishing is that no matter how good your book, if someone didn't think it had mass-market appeal the chances were it would be consigned to the bin.

Fortunately these days you can write an ebook knowing that there is no real barrier to it getting published - because you can do it yourself!

Writing your own ebook, in fact creating your own successful ebook publishing business, takes little more than making the best of what you already have available and adding a few extras which are relatively easy to acquire.

You need only two pieces of ebook software - a word processing program and something to create PDFs. The first is almost certainly installed on your PC already (or you can get a free one at openoffice.org). The second can be downloaded free from the internet.

Apart from that all you need is a website to sell your ebook from. Even if you've never built one before a basic site requires little more than the writing skills that you already have and could be up and running, selling your ebook, for less than $10 a month.

Some might say that this has led to a drop in standards, that with ebook publishing within the reach of all of us there are fewer checks on quality. I have to say that I disagree. While some of the more pedantic standards of editing may not be used so often in creating and publishing an ebook I don't see it as any great loss.

Language, and the acceptable use of it, moves on. Ebooks allow us to put across things in the way we want to - not restricted by people sat in ivory towers handing down judgement on our writing.

So when YOU come to write an ebook, don't worry if you haven't got a university education. I haven't and I make a very nice living indeed!
