Write a Craft Book - Simple Steps to Success

So you want to write a craft book? Well why not. If you feel inspired to share your craft knowledge with others it can be very satisfying personally and also extremely rewarding financially. The challenge some people have though is with the whole "writing" thing.

Writing is tough, right? Otherwise everyone would do it.

Well it doesn't have to be. The big trick is not to worry about "writing". Don't concern yourself about whether you know your pronoun from your adverb. If you want to write a craft book the only thing you need to be thinking about is how to explain what you do.

Picture it like you were showing a friend. Then just write it down. Have a look at it, read it back to yourself. Does it make sense? If not, just have another go. You'll be using a pc and a word processor so you don't need to worry running out of paper or ink!

Your writing will improve just by the act of writing. You didn't start out as an expert crafts person - you had to learn and develop your skills. Same with writing. Of course you shouldn't forget that a picture is worth a thousand words. Photography will brighten up your book and make things easier to understand. Use plenty of photography and you'll probably find you don't need to use half as many words as you feared!

Not a photographer? No need to worry there either. Modern digital cameras are cheap, clever and have no film or processing costs. If you need to take a hundred shots to get one good one, take them.
