Wrinkles And Wrinkle Creams - The Truth

The causes of wrinkles and the subsequent use of wrinkle creams seem to be obvious. However, this article will take a look into some deeper concealed reasons why wrinkles might be caused, and perhaps why the human condition needs to conceal them.
Most Americans are conscious of the signs of aging. With the advancement of anti aging products in recent years, 2009 is sure to be no different. While many of us focus on preventing the sagging of our skin, few concentrate on the deeper cause of this phenomenom. Is the largest concern of the average consumer that their skin is not as tight as it used to be, or is the issue much deeper in its root?

On the surface, it seems that fighting the aging process is no different than it is to fight weight gain. As a society, especially American society, we have the tendency to be rather superficial, and appearance is important to most of us. Arguments have been made for years and years about the fact that beauty is not only skin deep, and in our heart of hearts most of us agree. While most of us would like to remain looking our best for as long as we can, we understand that our bodies can not remain the same as it was when we were eighteen forever. However, when it comes to skin care, it seems we are less likely to accept this unfortunate reality.

People are not motivated by the urge to conceal their actual age from others as much as they are simply trying to look the best that they can for their respective age. But this is not the case throughout our lives, and has caused many specialist to look further into the issue. When we are young we all want to be older than we are, trying to look and act years beyond our age. But then as we reach our early twenties, all of our aging desires seem to come to a hault. Why? Within a few years from that we begin to wish we were younger again. Not only in appearance, but in responsibility as well.

Specialists have focused on this issue and conducted research as to this strange, but common thought process. Most people share in the desire to age early in life and then that desire is completely reversed at a certain age. The reasons for this is not as simple as appearance, but not that complicated either.

When people are young there are many things or responsibilities that are not allowed for children of a certain age. As a result of this being denied, these items are desired rather heavily. The privilege to drive or vote, for example, weigh heavily on childrens minds as it indicates their adulthood, a time when others have to take their opinions to heart. Having associated a level of societal importance with these privilages, they create a desire to age quickly. Not all of these desires are based upon legal privilages of course, many stem from social reasons as well. The desire for an older woman or man to notice, or to be able to stay out regardless of curfew are other desires for youngsters everywhere. However, regardless of the reason, it is clear that early age children simply what to be older than they are.

The larger, or seemingly more difficult to understand, question is raised when one examines the desire to maintain ones youth. Now on the surface it seems obvious why an older person would want to be younger, but the truth does not lie in the skin deep answer. It would be very easy to assume that all women desire to be younger simply because their skin is more elastic. The unfortunate truth however, is that older people also feel a loss of importance to society just as children do. While they are still allowed to drive and vote, their role is society is more and more diminished the older they grow. Where once they took care of their children, their children now take care of them. They no longer maintain their jobs, or are contemplating retirement and in general many people excuse their behavior or opinions as unimportant.

These people, who for years and years have been listened to and respected, simply fade into the background, or at least that is how aging people perceive it. Not all of these feelings are valid, however in many cases they are. Sub-consciously, when people are fighting the aging process, they are fighting the process of fading away. It’s not the wrinkles that they are looking to wipe away; it is the desire to remain important in their own minds, even if for only a few more years.

While wrinkles may be battled in what seems to be a skin deep desire to stay young, many times this not the sole reason for the war on aging. Women and men alike wage this war against aging, and wrinkle cream manufacturers are the benefactor, however the cause of this war is much deeper than wrinkles alone. As with most of our actions as adults, the cause of these actions are rooted in a much deeper desire to be accepted in our society.
