Wrinkle Creams with Automatic Billing - Scam or Convenience

We've all seen the free trial offers on the web for wrinkle creams. They sound great, but a month later you realize that your credit card is getting billed each month, and you're getting automatic shipments. To some this might seem like a ripoff, but to others it is a great convenience. This article looks at the pros and cons of this somewhat sneaky way of doing business that many wrinkle creams use.
We have all witnessed the rapid growth of the wrinkle cream industry over the past few years. And with that growth has come many new products and remedies that each of which claim to be the best. Some companies have begun to offer 30 day money back guarantees and others free trials. Some companies, however, take a bit farther offering free trials and at the same time sign you up for automatic shipping and of course automatic billing. We can all understand that they claim it is for convenience for the consumers, but might it be an attractive way to scam customers out of future payments.

This particular marketing approach is quite appealing because of the offer of a free product for 30 days. You sign up, fill out all of your credit card information and they ship you out your product of choice. They do not charge you for 30 days as promised. But starting then, they automatically ship you out your product and bill you month after month. For many people who forget to cancel the automatic billing, or did not know that they signed up for such a thing, they are surprised with expensive charges that they may not be aware are coming. In this day and age no one can afford to incur extra charges, if they are truly unexpected. For many this billing and shipping is, in fact, a convenience and saves them from the hassle of having to log into the site monthly and place another order. The question becomes what are the wrinkle cream manufacturer’s motives with this marketing ploy.

Recently, a wrinkle cream review site recently conducted a survey asking consumers what their opinion is of the approach, and whether they prefer that wrinkle cream companies conduct business like this or not. The answer was surprisingly tilted in one direction. Very few consumers felt that it provided them a significant amount of benefit to risk the repetitive billing of their credit card. Sure they did not have to log into the website monthly, but they did not feel that that was a huge benefit, especially as many of the consumers polled said to have worked on a computer all day at their jobs. On the other hand, they all liked the concept of receiving the product free for 30 days. Their issues with this business practice was always following the initial 30 days, when they began receiving charges that they did not want or expect.

Many people either did not read the information as they signed up or filled out their request for their free trial, but when a company gathers your billing information from you in route to a free trail, consumers should be expecting future charges. There would be no need for credit card information if it was a true free trail, or if they had no intention of charging you. It should be noted that there was 24% of the consumers polled that said that it provides a convenience level, as long as consumers are aware and happy with the product they have chosen, something that is very uncommon on free trials. But still these consumers like knowing that they do not have to manage or remember that particular purchase every single month.

This wrinkle cream review site, concluded that overall consumers would rather pay for their product and be offered a guarantee of that product’s results than risk the chance of being charged over and over for a product that they did not enjoy. The site also states that consumers need to be steadfast in their search for a effective wrinkle cream and use the resources available to us to find products with the best ingredients, so we can feel more confident in our purchases, rather than randomly getting free trails, which is never enough product, to see the results you want.

Overall, the practice of automatic billing was considered a backhanded way to receive consumer’s money while consumers expect free product. As a wrinkle cream customer, be sure to be careful and read the information carefully when looking for a free trial, you don’t want to be the next victim of the latest wrinkle cream scam.
