Working on Love Part 1
This is a new story and I hope you like it..............
Elle wanted to curse. She kept on searching the papers, folders, clear book even the flower vase and paperweight that was in her desk but she still couldn't find the report. She has kept on hitting her head because she was searching under the table. She can even imagine the report hiding from her. Laughing like a maniac. Stupid report!
"Leah!" Elle shouted. "Leah!" she repeated even louder than before, calling her assistant. Is she hiding too?
"Ma'am" Leah burst in the door.
"Where the hell have you been?"
"I was only in the ladies room."
"Did the ladies room have been moved to the North Pole that it took you this long?
"ma'am...." But Elle didn't wait for her answer.
"Where's the marketing report?"
"What marketing report, Ma'am?"
Elle sighed and closed her eyes. She counted up to 10 hoping that it would help her refrain from shouting.
"The one regarding the company of Ur Body."
"Oh that." Leah said while she placed some folders on her desk and pulled out a blue folder."Here it is Ma'am." Then rolled her eyes.
"thanks" then Leah left the room.
"stupid report. Are you happy now?" she scolded the blue files.
Talking to an inanimate object. Great.
She looked at the files to how much percent the lotion sales of the product line raised. She almost fainted.
It only increased 4% and that was after they started the aggressive advertising campaign 4 months ago. That was not good. Not good at all. It took millions to launch the campaign. It can't only increased 4 percent.
But it was Madam Rosietta, the president, who approved of it even though Elle disagreed. She should have followed her instincts instead of trying to keep the peace. She was not being paid to keep the peace.
Do you want to be like Madam Rosietta?
the effect was like ice placed on the head when she thought of that. The old lady had a stroke. It was said that it has always been in her family. It was a relatively mild stroke, but still the lady decided to give Elle the authority to be in charge of BeautyCare Inc.
Before she was just the assistant before. She was responsible, filled with interest and she must admit, she was a kiss-up. But she had grown to love the old woman.
There came a time where so many responsibilities given to her that she practically ran the place.
"You're doing such a good job, Elle." Madam Rosietta once said.
"You know that I was once like you. I may even looked like you. Anyway, you keep doing what you're doing. You know maybe one day I'll give you this company. I don't have any close relatives anyway."
Oh and how she wished for that to come true! It was her dream.
The phone rang and she snapped out of her reverie.
Who can be calling? she was very busy. Ugh.
"Elle Greene, to whom am I speaking?"
"Are you getting ready for a war, again?"
She laughed. She was like an active volcano, always ready to explode.
"You just caught me in a bad time." She answered.
"And when have it been not a bad time for you?"
Elle understood what she was saying. She was always tensioned and harassed. That's probably the reason for her short temper.
"Tracy, why did you call me?"
"Can't a friend call you up with nothing important to say?"
"Not when it's a busy day at work"
Then she started fake-crying on the phone. That is so Tracy.
"Oh, okay! Stop crying." Tracy immediately stopped.
"It's you're fault you know."
"I'm just busy that's all. So what's up?"
"I think I'm in love."
She almost dropped on her swivel chair. Tracy, in love? That can't be true. It's like saying Barney the Dinosaur is real. Tracy's the kind of girl who dates 'em then leave 'em.
"Wait, wait I think the line's broken. Can you repeat what you said?"
"Ha ha. I knew you'd react that way. But it's true. I think I'm in love."
"when did that happen?"
"I met him at a party. You know if you got out then someone might notice you're beauty."
Her eyes instantly stared at the mirror. Caramel hair, heart-shaped face, sapphire eyes.
Just the average girl, nothing special.
"Yeah right, and why do you think you're already In love. It might be only gas."
"I think I know when I'm in love and when I have gas."
"Really? Farting, you're stomach hurts, can't fall asleep, loss of appetite. Almost the same I should say."
"Oh shut up."
Wanting to end the pathetic conversation, Elle said "So what's he like?"
"Gorgeous, intelligent, lovable and rich."
"Does he have a clone?"
"No he's one and only. You should go out so you can find someone too.... Oh we can double date!"
"No way."
"Girl, being in love is great!"
"I'll do that after I get what I want."
" BeautyCare again? You know you can't cuddle a company."
"Sure, sure. Okay bye."
"But I have so much more to tell you-" but Elle hung up.
She was so tired. She rested her head, but then her phone rang again.
"Tracy! Stop calling me. Go kiss your boyfriend or something just don't bother me again!" then she hung up.
It rang again.
"Tracy if you call again, I swear to God-"
"Good afternoon to you too, Elle." Shit! It was Madam Rosietta.
"Yes, madam. Umm.... Do you need something?"
"Actually I do. I need you to come by here. I have something important to tell you."
She was quivering with excitement. Yes, finally! she'll be the head of BeautyCare. Yippee!
She knew making assumptions are bad but what else could it be?!
"Yes, Madam. I'll be there right away."
~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~
When she arrived at Madam Rosietta's house, she couldn't help but notice how big it was!
The door was carved ornately and the patio was simple yet absolutely elegant. There were violets growing on the front garden near the big gate.
She knocked and the butler answered.
"Ah, Miss Greene, Madam is in the garden." He said with an English accent.
"Thanks."
She went around the house to the enormous garden. Everything was covered in grass and she saw Madam Rosietta sitting on a table set.
"Oh my dear you're already here."
"yes I am, Madam."
"it's Grandma Ross remember? Come, sit here." Then pointed to the chair across her.
"Why do you need me here Ma- I mean Grandma Ross?"
"Oh I hope I'm not interrupting any plans..... or dates."
"No I'm don't have anything to do."
"Dear I want you to live, enjoy, fall in love. You're like a daughter to me. You work too hard."
What's with all the love talk?
"Oh..... I'm not really um...... focusing on my love life right now."
"Sweetie, falling in love is a part of life. It's one of the things that you should definitely experience."
She quickly scanned her mind's table of contents. Has she ever been in love? She cannot tell but there was a time when she had a boyfriend but the question is, Is it love that she felt for the guy? No it wasn't.
Ever since she was a child she had lived a medium life-style. Her mother was a teacher and she didn't know her father. She had always worked hard for the money her mother made was not enough. But unfortunately her mother died in an accident along-side with her baby sister. She was all alone.
She was lucky that BeautyCare accepted her. She had been working there for 7 years. She started as an intern then slowly made her way to Madam's assistant.
"I know you had never been in love." Grandma Ross continued. "I can see it in the way you act. And I can also understand what you're saying, but it's about time you experience what the feeling is like."
Elle didn't know what to say. Is the woman going to set her up in a blind date?
"I'm not setting you up with anyone." Grandma Ross laughingly said. "What we have to talk about is something about the company."
Then her heart started beating like she was on a roller coaster. It seemed like that the words were equivalent to electric paddles that send shock waves on her heart. She was waiting for this day since Madam said that she might have the company. She was happy because she worked hard and felt like she deserved it.
"T-the c-company?" Elle said.
"Yes my dear. It's about the company." She started. "I know how fragile the company is right now. You don't have a drop of Winchester blood on your veins yet you slave over the company like it's your own."
She held her breath. Was the old woman about to announce that the company would indeed be hers? She couldn't hold her excitement.
"I know that I once said that the company would possibly be yours."
Elle just nodded. Her throat was dry and she couldn't speak.
"I don't remember making any promises. But nevertheless, it pains me so much to have to tell you that I.... that I won't be able to push through with my plans."
She just stared at her. Suddenly she didn't understand a word the woman said. Did Grandma Ross just spoke French?
"Oh Elle, don't look at me like that. I didn't want to do this to you but sometimes fate just keeps on changing directions that is not within our plans."
"Grandma Ross, What are you really trying to say?"
"You remember that I told you I had a son right?"
Elle nodded.
"Well it turns out that he had a son and left them. It's not that I don't trust you're skills Elle, but in this case blood is thicker than water. I'm giving the company to my grandson. He's about your age. Please welcome him so. I think you could be great friends."
yeah right, She's not befriending anyone who breaks her hopes and dreams into pieces. She hated him even if she haven't met him. It's was just unfair!
Tears started to well up in her face. She wanted to get that job more than anyone. All her dreams shattered in to thin air. She has stayed overtime, read loads of papers and has worked her ass off and what did she get? nothing.
"I know this is too much to ask" the lady rambled on. "But can I count on your help?"
"O-of c-course!"
"Thank heavens!"
But Elle was confused. Needed her help in what?
"Umm...... In what way do you need my help?"
"Well-" but the butler interrupted. "Madam, there is a phone call for you. And also Sir has already arrived."
The old woman turned to her and said "I'll be in a minute my dear." Then left.
Elle sighed and sunk back in her chair.
A man had walked into the garden. He looked somewhat 24, just like her. He had dark brown eyes and jet black hair. He had this gorgeous smile plastered on his face that made his features even more beautiful. Elle was totally dumbstruck by his appearance. And so was he, by hers, apparently.
"Hi" he said. A tone of baritone lingering in his voice.
"Hi" she replied with quite a big smile on her face. But then Madam Rosietta had walked in.
"Oh I see that you have met each other."
Elle turned her head, confused "Wait... what?"
The woman just replied "Elle Greene, meet David Winchester, my Grandson. You will be helping him prepare to be president of BeautyCare Inc."
The smile on Elle's face had disappeared
What?! She thought.
"Leah!" Elle shouted. "Leah!" she repeated even louder than before, calling her assistant. Is she hiding too?
"Ma'am" Leah burst in the door.
