Words of my Song - Chapter Five

You discover Lasara's secret...why she's so different! *****Sorry it took so long to get it out and that it's so short. I’ve got writers block! Sorry...xxx
Lasara looked directly into his eyes. Her gaze was confused. Will stared right back, his early nervousness forgotten.

"Why do I get the feeling this is different?" he murmured suddenly. His voice was soft, and his eyes full of something Lasara couldn’t recognize.

This wasn’t Will, she thought. This was a lost Will, a Will deep inside.

"I don’t know." She answered back, her mouth dry. She licked her lips nervously and glanced away. When she looked back, Will’s amazing eyes were still fixed on her face. He blinked.

"Sorry." He said quickly, shifting in his seat so he faced slightly away from her. Lasara smiled a little. Something had happened here, but she didn’t know what. All she knew is that it was special.

************

Will turned away quickly. He had just had a flash of her thoughts. There was something she was hiding. He had heard whispered words…If he knew what I really was, would he accept me? Is it right for me to fall for him? Is there anything I can do to prevent it? Do I like him? He’s perfect. So perfect. But is he perfect for me?

He hadn’t understood really what the words had meant. But he got to know that she liked him. That was good. But what was this big secret that she was hiding? And why did it make her so different form him? Will sighed quietly, lost and wrapped in his thoughts. Why were things so complicated? Why?

*************

Lasara had gotten through the day without a hitch. She had spent all of it more or less with Tina. She didn’t see Will again. And she was glad. It was hard to keep her secret for him. When she looked into those emerald eyes, her soul wanted to spill every truth. But she knew she couldn’t. When she got home, there was no one there, so she just chucked her stuff wherever and ran upstairs to her room.

She collapsed on the rich, deep red silk of the bedspread. Everything was decorated in red, even though it wasn’t her favorite color. She felt red was a warmer color to come home than the more brash green she preferred. She lay against the cool material and released her breath along with the spell.

There was a slight whooshing sound and glitter shimmered through the air.

"Aaaah." Lasara sighed easily as her body and face began to transform. This was her secret.

Lasara was a fairy. No human thought such things were possible but Lasara knew better. In the real world, she was a normal, mixed race girl who was mildly popular and had a normal life. In her world, Andaluzia, she was a princess and the most beautiful girl any human would have seen.

She had the same skin color, mostly white with a hint of light brown. But her eyes were magnificent. They were sparkling and big and all the colors of the rainbow mixed into one. Her natural scent was intoxicating and her hair, instead of growing just past her shoulders, flowed in ringlets to her waist. She wore elegant knee length dresses. Today, in her true form, she wore a pure white off the shoulder knee-length dress that tucked in at her waist and created an ever so slightly puffed out effect by sewing together lots of strips of snowy white gauze.

It was hard to believe, she knew, but it was the truth. She was a fairy princess. And no human knew but her.
