Workbench Plans

As the processes are lengthy, we have mentioned only one of the most popular and easy ones among all the woodworking ideas here.

Things Required
  1. 2x4's wood
  2. OSB / plywood of your choice
  3. Deck screws (2-3 inches)
  4. Sandpaper
  5. Wood oil
Directions
  • Firstly you need to take measurements and cut the plywood or the OSB accordingly.
  • You can use the following measurements to make a larger work bench:
    • 2 pieces of OSB / plywood (26 x 48 inches)
    • 4 pieces of side rails (45 inches)
    • 4 pieces of end rails (26 inches)
    • 4 pieces of legs (30 inches)
  • Cut all the pieces according to the measurements.
  • You need to start with the lowermost part of the bench. Screw all the joints, with 4 screws for every single joint, to make the frame of the table.
  • Next, place the lower rail of the bench, approximately 5-6 inches away from the end parts of the legs.
  • While making the frame of the bench, you need to attach the end rails to the side frames with either of it from the inside uniformly.
  • The sides should be clamped together with the end pieces.
  • You can use the larger screws (3 inches) for clamping the sides and the ends together.
  • When attaching the lower shelf, you need to cut approximately 3 x 5 inches so that the shelf fits around the legs.
  • You will need to angle the shelf first to fit it into the place. When in place, you can screw the shorter deck screws so that the shelf fits in its place.
  • Lastly, comes the top of the bench. Make the legs or the ends of the table stand. Now place the top sheet and screw using larger deck screws into the corners.
  • Your work bench is ready! You can sand the top and the side legs with the sandpaper to make it smooth. Sanding wood is a must and should not be avoided. You can also make use of the wood oil to polish it further.
  • You can either use the work bench right away or apply a paint over it and let it dry for 24-30 hours. After painting, you can use the wood oil again for a smooth and shiny appearance. Your work bench is finally done!
Apart from this easy project, you can go through many other woodworking bench plans that are available on the Internet. With these plans, you can create your own wood furniture and save a lot of money. Good luck!
