Within Touching Distance. Chapter Four
Hey guys, sorry for the wait. Enjoy and please comment and let me know what you think! xo
Last night must've been a dream. Did Alex really tell me that he loved me? It was so crazy, I'd finally gotten what I wanted and now that I had it, I didn't know what to do with him. I woke up with a smile on my face and slowly walked down the stairs. I didn't look my best, but last night was so hectic that I didn't really care. I trudged tiredly into the kitchen and saw Josh and Alex sat at the table. I quickly felt like an idiot for coming downstairs looking the way I did. I had make-up all around my eyes and my hair looked like a bird's nest. Let's just say, my appearance had seen better days!
'Morning, sleepy head! Or should I say afternoon?' Josh smiled.
I looked at the clock on the wall - 2pm. Wow, last night really must've took it out of me. I looked at Alex from the corner of my eye and I noticed he was looking at me. He looked gorgeous.
'Sit! I'll make you some coffee, you look like you need it, haha!' Josh laughed at his own joke, making me giggle along with him. I sat next to Alex, waiting to see if he would say anything.
'Oh, no, we've ran out of milk. I'll just run to the shop and get some,' Josh winked at me and I knew he was lying. After he'd closed the kitchen door I waited expectantly for Alex to say something, but he didn't. Taking a deep breath and summoning all my courage I decided to say something.
'Alex, erm, if you didn't mean what you said last night it's okay. We were both pretty wasted...' I trailed off suddenly scared of what he would say.
He could destroy me in the space of seconds.
'Well, it's just that... Well, I didn't really expect you to tell me you love me. I mean, it's great that you do, but I don't know... I've only ever told one person I love them - you. It threw me off. I didn't know where it came from, but I knew as soon as I said it, it was true.' he looked at me with fire burning in his eyes and the butterflies began to fly in my stomach.
I reached out to him and he took me in his arms and hugged me tight. I still didn't know what this meant for us, but I knew that we would figure it out along the way. All I knew was that Alex loved me and I was completely and utterly in love with him.
'I love you,' I smiled kissing his nose. 'I've gotta go, I said to Mel that I'd meet her for coffee at four! It's going to take longer than an hour to make my face look normal again,' I laughed.
He sighed at my negative attitude and just looked at me.
'You're beautiful and don't you ever think differently. Ever.' he kissed me and let me leave the kitchen to get ready.
As I replayed the events of the night before and that morning to Mel, she sat wide eyed. I laughed inwardly at her expression, knowing she didn't believe a word of it, but deep down, she knew it was true. After I'd finished telling her, she sat in stunned silence for what felt like years.
'Say something then, silly!' I cursed at her.
'I'm sorry, I'm just so surprised. Who knew that Alex actually felt the same the whole time? I sure didn't and you certainly didn't! This is soooooo good! I'm really happy for you, Jas!'
As I laid in bed that night running over the past 48 hours, I realized that my life was great. The guy I had loved for years admitted that he loved me, my best friend was happy with my brother and nothing could ruin it.
Well, that's what I thought...
