Winza Ruby Gemstones

When Laura Bush was First Lady she asked for a ban on the rough and cut Burmese ruby. United States dealers quickly began to feel the financial blow this ban placed on the market. It was just after this ban that dealers quickly began to search for a ruby that would replace the famous Burmese ruby. The dealers found a welcome surprise with the introduction of the Winza ruby.

Burma was known to supply about 90% of the world’s rubies but Madagascar also supplied a low grade ruby that often served as a substitute. The ruby is the most coveted red gemstone in the world of gemstones and discovery of the Winza ruby was a windfall for many dealers. Since dealers are very reluctant to give up the sale of rubies, the introduction of the Winza ruby far surpassed anything they have ever seen in the ruby market.

Many refer to the Winza rubies as the great red hope. With Burmese rubies being banned the new deposit of rubies that was found in Winza rapidly began to offer the dealers a new hope. Ruby connoisseurs across the world are scrambling to get into the Winza ruby market because of the beauty and clarity that Winza ruby gemstones offer.

Even though the supply of the Winza ruby is uncertain, the ruby has been causing quite a stir in the gemstone industry. Never has a stone with such brilliant clarity and color been found. With its unheated, natural beauty the Winza ruby is a gemstone that ruby lovers across the world find irresistible. One dealer in New York featured a 2.15 carat Winza ruby in a popular fashion magazine. He felt it was the most beautiful stone on earth until he saw the spectacular 5 carat stone that was found in the Winza mine. This 5 carat stone literally blew the dealer away with its unmatched brilliance and beauty. This led the dealer to say that the Winza ruby by far was more beautiful than the Burmese gemstones that had been previously produced. The $100,000 per carat price tag was, in his estimation, well worth the value.

Reports also say that one legendary Winza ruby sold for $1 million. This ruby, that was 11 carats, was sold to a famous jeweler in Europe who realizes that stones of this size and clarity are truly rare indeed. Finding a stone that is larger than 5 to 10 carats is a rare find but even these smallest of these is well worth $60,000 or more.

These prices support the claim of beauty the ruby offers. It also explains the uncertain future of the Winza ruby. The uncertain supply makes the prices rise to new heights as more and more miners are searching for these precious stones. If it turns out that the stones will someday be available in an abundant supply the price quite possibly will decrease but the market is currently dealing with an unknown as far as availability. It is for certain that the beautiful Winza ruby will always be a popular choice for ruby lovers across the world.
