Winter Wonderland

A poem I wrote after my aunt died of cancer.
The ice meets my hands
As I fall into the storm
The snow drifts over me
But all I feel is warm

I know that soon I'll meet
The place where I belong
And none of this will matter
But I must remain strong

Nothing will break me
Nothing can try
I just need to do some things
Before it's time to die

Say goodbye to friends and family
Lock my old back door
Walk through the winter wonderland
As the snow does pour

Lay down alone in the cruel chill
Make a final angel
As the snow twirled
And float up to the air
Goodbye cruel world.
