Winter Time: Best Time for Interior Improvement Projects

Winter is one of the best times to get interior work done on your home. Basement Waterproofing isn't one of the projects that people think about, but it is possible and sometimes easier to have it done in the winter.
The winter is actually the best time of the year to do interior home improvement projects. I’m not just suggesting DIY projects like painting a bedroom or updating your kitchen cabinets. I’m seriously suggesting you tackle other projects that the summer months are too busy for.

One of these projects is to have your basement waterproofed.

For starters most people don’t have basement flooding in the winter months. Most flooding for basements starts in spring and works well into the fall months. Winter however is the catalyst for most of that spring water saturation in the soil. Once the snow thaws, water levels increase and basements flood.

Not having flooding happen during the winter will also keep the cost of the project down. It’s much more expensive to deal with flooding clean up, drying, demolition and waterproofing. By being pro-active for the next season, you’ll be saving yourself time and a boat-load of money.

Unlike exterior work, basement waterproofing can be done inside, all year round. This makes it easy for you as well. Homeowners don’t tend to think of major home improvements during the winter months because they’re pre-occupied thinking about the holidays. However, because of this, many home improvement companies, basement-waterproofing companies included, have more flexible calendars. Basement inspections, installations and even service calls are all a bit more flexible come winter.

Having your basement inspected and waterproofed can equal out a 2-3 day job. Once done, you can be fully protected for the spring thaw. Rest assured during this winter that the following New Year can and will be a dry one in your basement.
