Winehouse Toxicology Report Indicates No Illegal Drugs
The toxicology report on Amy Winehouse has indicated that there were no illegal drugs in her system at the time of her death, giving credence to claims that she had kicked the habit.
Amy Winehouse came to her premature and tragic end last month, leaving fans and the media mourning and writing about the troubled singer’s life, work and death. Now, however, it has been found that Winehouse, who constantly and very publicly battled alcohol and drug addiction, had no illegal drugs in her system at the time of her death. A spokesman for the late singer noted that while alcohol was present in her system, it wasn’t yet clear if alcohol was involved with or contributed to her death.
Noted the statement by the spokesman, "Toxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in Amy’s system at the time of her death. Results indicate that alcohol was present but it cannot be determined yet if it played a role in her death." The inquest into Winehouse’s death opened in July, shortly after she died, and will resume again on October 26 in London.
Winehouse, of course, was best known during her life for having a unique voice that hearkened back to the days of famous soul singers, as well as her throwback beehive hair style. Members of her family indicated that withdrawal from alcohol may have contributed to her death, an assertion that has been backed up by at least one doctor. Amy’s father Mitch said at her funeral, "Three years ago, Amy conquered her drug dependency. The doctors said it was impossible but she really did it." From what the reports indicate, that seems to have been true.
